One of the strong points you must have as a business owner or service provider is knowing how to resolve issues hampering your service delivery to your clients and carrying them along while at it.

I was handling a name reservation for a Foundation with the Corporate Affairs Commission since December and the whole process was quite frustrating because of the CAC's new policy on National Identification Number (NIN). But my client was able to trust me cos I was carrying her along all the while and was showing her every step I was taking to resolve the issue.

I must confess, she is a very admirable client. Some clients do not care whether you're making effort or not, they just want you to get the job done, even when the issue is clearly out of your hand. A cooperative and understanding client is a blessing.

When finally I scaled the hurdle of payment for the name reservation, I couldn't help but take a deep breath of relief even as I kept muttering "thank you Jesus" under my breath. That's after several emails and a call. What crowned my joy was the approval mail that came in over the weekend. I was beyond glad!

As we continue to bask in the euphoria of the season, do not forget to prepare your businesses for the year 2023.

Meanwhile, from the 1st of January, 2023, the Means of Identification for all transactions with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) would by then be limited to the National Identification Number (NIN) only, for both Nigerians and non-Nigerians resident in Nigeria.

The implication of this is
that if you hope to have anything to do with the CAC, whether you are willing to register an entity or for any post-incorporation matter, you must have the NIN.

You can therefore take steps to do such transactions now before the year runs to an end or otherwise, begin to take steps to obtain your NIN in the new year.

And yes, this applies to Nigerians in the diaspora too.

As of today, the various means of identification remain a valid voter's card, a driver's license, an international passport or NIN.

All those except the NIN would by the beginning of the new year become invalid.
