On December 20, 2025, we at HARLEM Telecoms Academy (sponsored by HARLEM Solicitors) hosted a special send-forth lunch at Cafe Chrysalis in honour of our outstanding Quarter IV Legal Trainees — a moment to reflect on their journey with us and to celebrate their contributions to the firm.

From their first day, our trainees showed genuine enthusiasm for corporate legal practice and a strong willingness to grow within the high standards we uphold at HARLEM. Whether assisting with research, supporting court appearances, preparing case files and correspondence, or contributing to our internal operations, they consistently demonstrated commitment, discipline and professionalism.

At the lunch, we appreciated not only the work they did, but the positive energy they brought to our team. Their curiosity pushed us, their fresh ideas inspired us, and their adaptability strengthened our workflow.

We are proud of the progress they made within our firm and confident that the experience gained at HARLEM will serve as a strong and enduring foundation as they continue their legal careers.

To our interns: thank you for being part of the HARLEM family, and big congratulations to Moniyeoluwa Sola-Oyewole, AICMC. (who got a cash award as the ‘Most Culture-Fit Mentee’) and Kareemat Abdulazeez (cash award winner for the ‘Best Video Lecture’).
We wish everyone clarity, courage, and great success as you step into the next chapter of your professional journey.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have announced a roll out of refund framework aimed at resolving consumer complaints arising from failed airtime and data transactions.

The framework introduces an enforceable Service Level Agreements which embody the roles and responsibilities of all parties involved in the transaction and resolution process, including Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and Deposit Money Banks (DMBs).

According to the framework, subscribers who are debited without receiving data or airtime are to be refunded within thirty seconds, whether or not the failure is attributed to the bank or the operator licensed by the NCC, except where the transactions remain pending, in which case, refunds may take up to 24 hours. Under the framework, operators are also required to notify subscribers via the SMS about the success or failure of each transaction.

Other issues addressed by the framework border on erroneous recharges, ported lines, data purchases, incorrect airtime and transactions made to the wrong telephone numbers. The framework also establishes a Central Monitoring Dashboard (CMD) to be jointly hosted by the NCC and the CBN. The dashboard allows the two regulators to monitor transaction failures in real time, identify the party responsible, track refunds and detect breaches of the agreed SLAs.

As part of their mentorship, our Quarter IV Legal Trainees at HARLEM Telecoms Academy attended court to witness firsthand real-life legal proceedings, affording them the opportunity of witnessing how law truly comes alive beyond textbooks and lecture rooms.

From observing courtroom etiquette and procedure to seeing advocacy, judicial reasoning, and case management in action, the experience was both instructive and inspiring. No doubt, the post-court discussions which our Program Coordinator had with them helped deepen their understanding of litigation practice, professional conduct, and the realities of legal practice in Oyo State in particular and Nigeria in general.

We remain committed to mentoring the next generation of legal professionals by providing them with meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that prepare them for the rigorous demands of legal practice.

When Health Meets Professional Growth…

Earlier this December 2025, our Quarter IV Legal Trainees had the rare privilege of an inspiring, memorable session with the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Prof. Wasiu Lanre Adeyemo, during his visit to HARLEM.

While fielding questions during his interactions with our Mentees, Prof. Adeyemo offered invaluable tips on health and wellness and how to balance professional and personal life. He harped on practical strategies to incorporate health routines into daily schedules- which are essential skills for maintaining a healthy mind and body and thriving in the legal profession.

As part of their Field Study Tours earlier this month, our Quarter IV Legal Trainees of HARLEM Telecoms Academy (an initiative of HARLEM Solicitors) received hands-on exposure to Pension Management and Investment Strategies during their visit to the office of Honourable Hakeem Ademola Ige, Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, State Secretariat, Ibadan.

We are delighted that our Mentees received copious practical insights into the daily operations of pension schemes and greatly persuaded that the front-row experience that they gained will be of unimpaired value and invaluable contribution in shaping their legal career.
