You know what I find interesting about CAC lately?
They're reminding business owners that registration isn't the end of the journey.
For years, many people believed that once they collected their RC Number, everything else could wait.
But that's not how compliance works.
Today's public notice proves that.
It wasn't about registering a new company.
It was about something many existing companies have probably never thought twice about...
Their company letterhead.
I know what you're thinking...
"It's just a letterhead. How important can it be?"
More important than many people realize.
Every time your company writes to a bank, submits a proposal, sends a quotation, issues an invoice, signs a contract, or communicates with a government agency, your letterhead represents your business.
It's not just a design.
It's an official business document.
According to CAC, there are certain details every Limited Liability Company should include on its official business letters.
These include:
i. Your registered Company Name.
ii. Your RC Number.
iii. The names of your directors.
iv. The nationality of any director who is not Nigerian.
v. Any former name of a director, where required by law.
Now, let's clear up a common misconception...
This is not about your shop signboard.
It's not about your office branding.
It's about the official letters and documents your company sends out in the course of doing business.
According to the public notice issued today, CAC will begin enforcing these requirements from 1st August 2026, and companies that fail to comply may face sanctions.
The interesting part?
Many companies haven't ignored this requirement because they don't care.
They simply didn't know it existed.
That's why staying informed is one of the smartest investments you can make as a business owner.
Registration gets your business through the door.
Compliance helps you stay in the room.
So, if you own a Limited Liability Company, Limited by Guarantee or PLC, this is a good time to pull out your company letterhead and review it.
If everything is in order, great.
If not, now is the best time to fix it.
