Lawyers owe a responsibility that goes beyond representing clients in courtrooms or offering legal opinions. We also carry a duty to contribute to nation-building by promoting justice, fairness, and the rule of law in all we do.

Our advice should not only serve individual interests but also reflect the broader impact on society. By guiding clients toward lawful and ethical decisions, advocating for accountability, and supporting policies that strengthen institutions, we help shape a safer and more equitable environment.

In this way, the legal profession becomes a driving force for progress, ensuring that our society grows into a place where rights are respected, disputes are resolved peacefully, and the common good is protected.

Late President Muhammadu Buhari should be commended for moving power from the Exclusive List to the Concurrent List, giving states the chance to generate electricity.

But how has Rivers State taken advantage of this?

Power drives the economy — education, industry, healthcare, and overall wellbeing all depend on it. Unfortunately, there’s little conversation around this in Rivers State.

While other states pursue local power solutions, our governor appears more focused on politics and what we call “Sidon Look,” instead of taking steps that could drive real development.

It is difficult to truly express how you all made me feel yesterday. It was special, it was awesome and it was beautiful.

This is me saying a big thank you for all your prayers, kind words and wishes. I don't know how to return this gesture but know that I truly appreciate it.

Once again, I say thank you for celebrating me. Let's do this again next year.

I love you all.

The FCT Minister should not be buying cars or building houses for judges, especially when he has a plethora of cases before the courts. Such actions raise serious concerns about judicial independence and public confidence.

When we talk about reforms in the judiciary, practices like this are exactly what must stop. A justice system must not only be impartial but must also be seen to be impartial.

We cannot continue to encourage actions that create the perception of influence or compromise, as this ultimately undermines the credibility, integrity, and independence of the judiciary.

For it has pleased the Lord to add another year to my age. Glory to his name.

Today, I don't just count years, I count lessons learnt, battles survived, victories won, and purpose renewed.

Happy New Year to myself and everyone born on this wonderful day.

May God Be Praised.

The incident where a judge asked a lawyer to kneel in court highlights serious concerns about our judiciary and the urgent need for reform.

There must be mutual respect between the Bar and the Bench. Lawyers are not to be humiliated, and any order outside the law or Constitution undermines the integrity of the court and disrespects the legal profession.

Judicial authority must always be exercised within the limits of the law, as actions like this erode public trust and create a dangerous precedent for abuse of power rather than justice.

We returned to court today in the case against former illegal Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the court struck out the matter after over one year.

People who hold public office must realise that they hold it trust for the people and must not use it against the people. The former illegal Inspector General is a clear example of what a public servant shouldn't be.

Lecturers in higher institutions in Nigeria must recognize that their primary responsibility is to the students and society. Their role exists because students are enrolled in the institutions and they owe it to the public to provide quality teaching and produce well rounded competent graduates.

Any form of harassment whether from lecturers toward students or from students toward lecturers is unacceptable and must be stopped. Maintaining mutual respect is essential for the sanity and effectiveness of the educational environment.

Higher education should be a space where learning thrives, ideas are nurtured, and both students and lecturers work collaboratively to achieve academic excellence. Upholding professionalism, ethical conduct, and mutual respect ensures that our institutions fulfill their role in shaping the future of Nigeria.
