Life won't simply hand you what you desire and deserve; you must boldly reach out and claim it.

I thought to share this brilliant write-up from Nonso Armani on the importance of capturing your agreement in a legally binding document.

The benefits of protecting your interests in your transactions and dealings with people, especially when the going is good, can not be overemphasised.

This is from a non lawyer but from a very experienced hand.

I desire that you be legally protected at all times.

=====================

No matter how you seem to trust someone, don't fail to sign partnership agreements with them before entering any serious financial partnership/collaborations with them.

The agreement should contain terms, conditions, percentage cuts, and every other vital information that will be agreed upon and must be signed by both parties.

Whether they're your closest pal, sibling, relative, spouse, etc.

Don't fail to keep proofs like screenshots of previous chats, audio conversations, videos, etc, because "anything" could happen in the future.

I mean ANYTHING.

_____

The bitter truth is, money can reveal the true nature of everyone on Earth, including you reading this and shaking your head in confirmation.

Some people just need little money to help them uncover their true selves.

Others need big money to help them dig out the part of them they never knew existed.

One way or the other, just know that money is a REVEALER.

To your success!

ATTENTION: BUTCHERS, MEAT AND FRESH FISH SELLERS

Kindly ensure you have a measuring and weighing scale at all times.

Also, see to it that you measure and calculate the total weight of the meat or fish you sell.

The law makes it mandatory for you to adhere to the above.

It is an offence to sell meat or fresh fish without a measuring scale, weighing balance and calculating the total weight of the meat or fish sold.

The only ones exempted are sellers at beaches and watersides.

FOR BAKERS AND BREAD SELLERS

It is a mandatory requirement that bakers and bread sellers show the calculation of the total weight of the bread on the packaging material.

Make it visible for all to see.

The recommended total weight is 225 grams or above.

It is an offence to do otherwise.

FOR COACHES, CONSULTANTS, MENTORS, RESEARCHERS, AUTHORS, COURSE CREATORS AND ALL KNOWLEDGEPRENEURS

The business terrain and playing ground are most times unfriendly.

There are people from time to time who come your way to take advantage of your hard work.

What measures have you put in place to see that the new clients who made payment and you forwarded your work plan, strategy, system, and directions will not turn back to say I am not ready for the job, kindly do a refund?

How do you handle when you send your meal plan to a client, who's used it and is now asking for a refund, claiming it doesn't work?

What policy do you have in place to see that your coaching client would not cancel midway and ask for a refund?

How would you handle your staff stealing your work and passing it off as hers?

That research that took you so long to come up with, how do you ensure that the typist, printer or publisher doesn't tweak and publish it as his own?

Those in your group programme, what measures do you have in place to protect your work with them?

What will be your saving grace and defence if a client sues you?

There are sharks and shylocks out there.

Make no mistake about it.

Not everyone plays nice.

Protect yourself. Protect your intellectual property.

Your intellectual property is your sweat, your time and your blood.

Coaches, Consultants, Mentors, Researchers, Authors, and Course Creators as well as those that deal with one-on-one clients, protect your work, protect your property.

Have the right document executed between you and your prospective client before you commence work with them.

The right terms of use, contracts, policy templates, terms and conditions, disclaimer, refund policy, return policy e.t.c or whichever is applicable to you would be your saving grace someday.

Don't leave it to chance.

Get a lawyer to draft custom-made contracts for you.

And get your clients to know it, agree, and append their signature to it.

At SMElegalclinic, it is in our interest to protect your interest.
