The capable mooters from University of Malaya reached out to our Alex Anton Netto to assist in coaching them for the mooting competition that is due to take place in Nuremberg, Germany in the third week of July. A capable team of 4.

We would be failing in our duties if we do not thank close friends of Anton & Chen, namely DeeWei Choo, Samuel Tan and Shashi Devan who have magnanimously agreed to defray some of the team's cost to Germany out of their own pockets. The firm is lucky to count these lawyers as friends.

Anton & Chen is proud to congratulate our Associate, Shalin Anuar who appeared as lead counsel together with our Partner, Yu Szen Chen, in successfully defending an appeal before the High Court.

The appeal arose from allegations of constructive dismissal, with issues concerning an alleged demotion arising from changes in reporting lines and the withdrawal of a hybrid working arrangement. The High Court dismissed the appeal and affirmed the award of the Industrial Court.

In doing so, the Court reaffirmed important employment law principles, including that a change in reporting structure, without any reduction in rank, duties or remuneration, does not, in itself, constitute a demotion, and that a hybrid working arrangement, in the absence of any contractual entitlement, remains a matter of management prerogative.

We are proud of Shalin's preparation, advocacy and professionalism in leading this matter. Her dedication reflects the standard of representation that Anton & Chen strives to deliver for every client.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our client for placing their trust and confidence in our firm.

Congratulations once again to Shalin on this well-deserved achievement, and to Chen Yu Szen for his guidance and support throughout the appeal.
