The AIAC was pleased to welcome Dr. Thomas R. Klötzel to the Centre yesterday, where he was warmly received by our CEO, Datuk Danesh Chandran, Mr. Animesh Bordoloi and Mr. Mohamed Firdaus.

The visit provided an opportunity for an open exchange on current issues shaping arbitration in the region, as well as AIAC’s role in supporting the development of international arbitration and dispute resolution.

The AIAC successfully concluded its Adjudicators Continuing Competency Development Workshop Series 2026, with the session “A Decade of CIPAA: Milestones and the Way Forward.”

Held in a hybrid format at the AIAC, Bangunan Sulaiman, the workshop brought together legal and industry practitioners to reflect on a decade of the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA) and its impact on construction payment disputes and statutory adjudication in Malaysia.

The session was moderated by Ms Swee Im Tan of 39 Essex Chambers, with insights from High Court Judge YA Tuan Azlan bin Sulaiman, Mr Rod Martin (Charlton Martin Group), Ms Lynnda Lim (REX C Expert & Dispute Services), and Dr. SIVASANGARAN NADARAJAH (S. Nadarajah & Co.).

The panel explored key developments and practical issues surrounding CIPAA and adjudication, while reflecting on the evolution of the framework over the past decade and considering its future direction within Malaysia’s construction industry.

A series of interactive polls also provided a snapshot of participants’ views on the future of CIPAA and adjudication. An overwhelming majority supported the continued role of CIPAA, while participants also supported the introduction of an AIAC competency tier system for adjudicators, reflecting continued interest in strengthening professional standards.

The AIAC remains committed to supporting professional development, constructive dialogue and the continued strengthening of adjudication practice in Malaysia.

AIAC was pleased to meet with the Selangor Freight Forwarders and Logistics Association (SFFLA) today at its headquarters in Port Klang.

The AIAC delegation, led by our Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Danesh Chandran, was warmly welcomed by SFFLA President, Mr Chua Seng Wah, Deputy President, Dato’ Dr Chia Han Teun, together with members of the Association.

The meeting provided a valuable platform to exchange perspectives on the shipping, freight forwarding and logistics landscape, including the evolving commercial and contractual challenges faced by businesses across the sector.

The discussion also explored opportunities for AIAC and SFFLA to work together in strengthening awareness and understanding of alternative dispute resolution, particularly arbitration and mediation, as practical mechanisms for managing commercial disputes and supporting business continuity.

As a vital link in Malaysia’s domestic and international trade ecosystem, the logistics sector depends on efficient commercial relationships and greater certainty in the resolution of disputes. Accessible and effective dispute resolution can play an important role in reducing disruption, preserving business relationships and supporting confidence in cross-border trade.

AIAC appreciates the warm hospitality extended by SFFLA and looks forward to building on this engagement through practical collaboration that supports the needs of the shipping, freight forwarding and logistics community.
