Every time people ask me why I believe that Mediation and amicable settlements bring far greater satisfaction for parties, I think about how much stress and worry they are spared when they choose this path. I would never consider this an alternative dispute resolution pathway; for the advantages it holds, every other pathway should be the alternative, explored only on the rare occasion mediation is not viable.
Our colleagues in Singapore International Mediation Institute and The Asia Mediation Centre and other wonderful centres have been working towards raising awareness on this new pathway which has been given global recognition in The Singapore Convention on International Settlement Agreements. One of the ways in which you can participate is to get involved in the Mediation Competition organised by the Singapore International Mediation Institute at the end of October!
