The ELSA Moot Court Competition (EMC2) on WTO Law is an annual international moot court competition owned by the European Law Students' Association (ELSA). It is a simulated hearing of the World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement system and deals with international trade law issues. The competition seeks to educate law students from all over the world to develop their legal, oral, present
ation skills and to educate the lawyers of the future in the area of world trade law. The competition also attempts for greater involvement of WTO experts from legal academia, the WTO Secretariat and international trade law practitioners. The competition is organized since 11 years ago by the European Law Students' Association (ELSA) and open to law students from all over the globe. The students have to examine a fictive case and draft submissions for each party. In March of each year, the teams will be assigned to one of the Regional Rounds all over the world: America, Asia-Pacific, Europe and soon Africa. The best students of each region will be qualified for the Final Oral Round taking place in May/June each year at the WTO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The participants get the chance to present their legal skills in front of the best WTO law experts and thus, have the opportunity to put theory into practice.
