THE EX-RAILWAY STATION WAS SOLD TO AN INDIVIDUAL SINCE 2006
🚂 The entity in charge of liquidating the property was the federal company BANOBRAS.
, GTO., THURSDAY, AUGUST 20, 2026. - What is happening on the land of the former Railway Station in San Miguel de Allende?
Since February 17, 2026, the Mayor of San Miguel de Allende, Mauricio Trejo, has reported that a judge ordered the eviction of this area where the CrossFit gym was located, stating that the dispute had been ongoing for years and that the gym would have to be removed, but they would seek to have the gym continue to rent or move to a different location.
After this report by Mayor Mauricio Trejo, it seems that the only affected area was the gym, which the municipal government was developing for public use, and the citizens were left very quiet.
This week, August 18, 2026, neighbors from the former Railway Station gathered to state that they are afraid of a eviction of their homes due to the alleged appearance of a person they had a conflict with, asking for explanations about "who was it?"
Apparently, the owners who won the lawsuit intend to build a perimeter wall to prevent access to the former station.
After this information, it was officially reported that it is a matter of property between individuals, derived from an operation carried out almost 20 years ago and unrelated to the current Municipal Administration of San Miguel de Allende 2024-2027.
The history of the property dates back to 1896, when the former National Railway Company of Mexico granted the right to use and annexes over an area of 11,151.5 square meters of the then-called "Hacienda de Tirado."
Later, after the dissolution of Ferrocarriles Nacionales de México in 2001, the bank BANOBRAS (National Bank of Works and Services Public) was designated as the liquidator of the person or legal entity designated to represent, manage, and conclude the operations of the company, entity or organization, namely the Railway Station.
On July 17, 2006, it was determined that the disincorporation of the property from the public domain regime of the Federation for its subsequent alienation, that is, transferring the property of a good or right to another person.
On November 29, 2006, BANOBRAS, as the liquidator of Ferrocarriles Nacionales de México, sold an area of 11,151.5 square meters in San Miguel de Allende to a private individual.
This is not a recent sale, nor is it a property sold by the Municipal Government of San Miguel de Allende 2024-2027.
Therefore, regarding the ownership of land located in the area of the former Railway Station, the Municipal Government states:
The transfer of property was documented in 2006, and any controversy regarding the property or possession corresponds to a matter between private individuals that must be resolved through the appropriate legal channels.
The property sale: the sale to a private individual occurred from 2006 and was carried out by BANOBRAS as the liquidator of Ferrocarriles Nacionales de México.
Public use: different municipal administrations, starting from at least 2012, have carried out interventions, activities, or public uses in the area.
Regarding the "litigation" by the City Council, it was filed in 2022, defended itself legally, exhausted all means of appeal, and is currently facing the fulfillment of a final court ruling.
Consequently, the Municipal Government did not sell the property, did not generate the transfer of property, and is not facing the appearance of a "new owner." Private property has documentary records dating back to 2006, and the current situation stems from the ex*****on of a judicial procedure initiated in 2022.
Any controversy regarding the property or possession corresponding to a matter between private individuals must be resolved through the appropriate legal channels.
