Are you starting an immigration process and wondering if you need professional legal guidance?

Information on the internet usually talks about general cases, but in immigration matters, every situation is different.

Factors such as your nationality, the way you entered the country, your immigration history, family ties, or available documents can completely change a procedure.

That is why what worked for someone else may not necessarily apply to your case.

Working with an immigration professional allows your situation to be analyzed individually, helps avoid mistakes, and helps you find the right path for your process.

In immigration, every story is different.

How does the work visa process in Mexico work?

To work legally in Mexico, you need a Temporary Residence Visa with a work permit, but the process starts with the employer—not you.

First, you need a formal job offer. Then, the company must have a CIE (Employer Registration Certificate), which allows them to legally hire foreign workers.

No CIE = no process.

If the company meets the requirements:

They apply for your work authorization
You go to a Mexican consulate
You enter Mexico and finalize your residency

⚠️ Before anything else, confirm the company has a CIE.

If you have a job offer or questions, we can guide you through the process.

Is your child traveling without you? They need the SAM Form 👇

If you are a foreign resident in Mexico and your child is leaving the country alone or with someone else, you must process the SAM Form with the Instituto Nacional de Migración.
It’s a form where you authorize the minor’s departure (child’s info, parents, and travel details).

Without the SAM Form, they will not be allowed to leave the airport.

Example: if they’re traveling with their grandmother → you definitely need the SAM Form.
Do it in advance to avoid problems.

Planning to hire foreign talent?
If you are operating — or planning to operate — a business in Mexico and intend to hire foreign talent, your company must obtain the Employer Registration Certificate (CIE) from the Instituto Nacional de Migración.

Without a CIE, your company cannot process work visas or legally employ foreign nationals in Mexico.

Many investors set up the company structure correctly from a corporate and tax perspective, but overlook the immigration component. The issue usually surfaces when there is an urgent hiring need.

Operating without proper registration while employing foreign talent may result in fines, administrative penalties, and operational disruptions.

At Immigration Playa, we support investors in structuring compliant immigration strategies to ensure smooth operations and legal certainty in Mexico.
