Hello everybody! 👋

The last month have been a bit of a roller coaster with **new rules, requirements, and changes in officers and procedures**. As happens from time to time, Immigration (INM) does not always make official announcements or provide clear and consistent information about these changes.

Here are some of the changes we have noticed during the last month:

* New supervisor/management
* **Residence card delivery times:** approximately 1–2 weeks in many cases, although some are taking 1–2 months
* **Last 3 bank statements** are now being requested for almost any application
* If your bank statements are **not in Spanish, they must to be translated**
* Renewals of TR cards, in most cases, are given for 1 year only
* Officers are being **very particular about how addresses are entered**
* **In-person appointments from INM** are currently being provided mainly for **Regularization, CIE, and Family Unit Visa** processes
* For **most other procedures, appointments must be obtained online**

⚠️ **Important:** Immigration procedures and requirements can change at any time, without prior notice.

Once again, I would like to thank everyone who has placed their trust in me and my services. Your patience and understanding are truly appreciated.

Sometimes the immigration process is quick and straightforward, but other times delays can occur for reasons beyond anyone's control, such as power outages, internet issues, system failures, malfunctioning equipment, or even staff shortages at the Immigration Office.

For this reason, it is always recommended to allow an extra 1–2 days when planning any immigration process. This helps avoid unnecessary stress and ensures that unexpected delays do not affect your travel plans or personal schedule.

🇲🇽 DIY Immigration Process vs. Assisted Immigration Process

🇲🇽 DIY Immigration Process? Tips Part 4:

✔️ For CANJE apps, make sure your visa stamp is properly processed by Immigration Control when you arrive in Mexico.
✔️ If your TR card expires while you are abroad, you have a 55-day grace period to return to Mexico and renew it.
✔️ Most notifications (change of address, marital status, employer, etc.) must be reported within 90 days to avoid fines.
✔️ Immigration does not extend tourist status. If you overstay, you will pay a fine when leaving Mexico.

🇲🇽 DIY Immigration Process? Tips Part 3:

✔️ Arrive at least 30 minutes before your appt. If you miss it, the next available appt may be 3 weeks away.
✔️ For apps that require witnesses, they must be Mexicans or residents.
✔️ For any app, plan to stay extra 1–2 days, just in case.
✔️ Family Unit apps may take up to 2 months when present a Mexican Birth or Marriage Certificate.

✔️ Appts are booked about 3 weeks in advance, so plan ahead
✔️ Always bring a backup copy of your pre-filled forms
✔️ Payments are accepted by credit or debit card only

🇲🇽 DIY Immigration Process? Keep These Tips in Mind:

✔️ Use only one color pen (blue or black)
✔️ Bring all documents in original and copies
✔️ Try to schedule your appt before 01:00pm for a better chance of getting your card the same day
✔️ All Regularization applications in Playa del Carmen require witnesses

Accuracy in having all documents properly filled out, translations when needed, original documents apostilled, and copies of all documents as Immigration requires. Attention to detail in the presentation of your file, being on time, and staying present until you have your card in hand.

That is my job: making sure everything goes smoothly.
