We are proud to share that our partner, Adalberto Méndez, had the honor of presenting—on behalf of Revista Fortuna, Negocios y Finanzas—the “Personality of the Year” award to Cristina Rivera Garza.

Cristina Rivera Garza is one of the most influential voices in contemporary literature. An acclaimed Mexican writer, scholar, and literary innovator, she has built an outstanding career that bridges literature, academia, and cultural thought. She is the author of numerous award-winning novels, essays, and poetry collections, and her work has been translated into multiple languages.

Her recent book, El invencible verano de Liliana, received international recognition and won the Pulitzer Prize in Memoir or Autobiography, highlighting her powerful narrative voice and her commitment to addressing themes such as memory, justice, and gender-based violence.

Beyond her literary contributions, Rivera Garza has also had a distinguished academic career and currently serves as a professor at the University of Houston, where she directs the PhD program in Creative Writing in Spanish.

Her work continues to shape the cultural and intellectual conversation across borders, making her recognition as Personality of the Year a well-deserved tribute to a career defined by excellence, courage, and impact.
