*Driver´s licenses Before this, I studied Criminology, a field I practiced for some time before deciding to take a different path. I’m also a proud father of three wonderful children and happily in love with an amazing woman. Today, I work with a law firm that specializes in various legal areas, includin

g immigration. Over time, I’ve dedicated myself to helping foreigners who want to live legally in Mexico, guiding them step by step through their immigration processes. My first real experience with Mexican immigration came through helping my wife. Along the way, I saw how many foreigners struggled to get their residency or deal with the National Immigration Institute. Sadly, I also heard about many having bad experiences with unreliable facilitators. That’s why I decided to offer support through this platform. With my intermediate English and legal background, my goal is to provide you with clear, trustworthy information, always based on official sources. I truly believe that when you have the right information, you know exactly where you’re going. If you ever need help, I’d be happy to assist you with your process. Thanks for being here and welcome!

💡 Are you spending time and money proving financial solvency when you might not need to?

Many foreigners go through the stress of meeting financial requirements without realizing they could qualify through family unity — often a simpler, more flexible, and less expensive path. 👇

✅ Married to a Mexican citizen or legal resident in Mexico? → You can apply through marriage.
✅ Have a Mexican child? → You may qualify for permanent residency.

And while financial requirements shift constantly between consulates, family ties are protected by law and remain stable over time. 🛡️

Common mistakes that delay a family unit application.

The most common mistakes include:

❌Do not apostille documents
❌To carry incorrect translations
❌Having different names on documents
❌Failure to properly demonstrate the link
❌Submitting old or illegible documents
❌Rely solely on digital copies.

It's also common for people not to check if the consulate where they're applying has any special requirements. Each Mexican consulate may have different criteria.

🚨 Did you know you can get Mexican residency without proving high income or investments?
Many people think the only path to Mexican residency is through financial solvency, investments, or a job offer. But there's a very important immigration category that often flies under the radar: family unity. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

I just published a brand new blog post breaking it all down! 📝✨

📋 Did you know that as a resident in Mexico, you have legal immigration obligations?

Here's a quick summary of the most important ones:
🪪 Documentation — You must obtain your resident card within 30 calendar days of entering the country and carry it at all times.

📢 Reporting changes to INM — Any change in your marital status, name, address, workplace, or nationality must be reported to INM within 90 calendar days. Failure to do so can result in a fine.

✈️ Entry & exit — Always through authorized border crossings, with a valid passport and resident card. If your card expires while abroad, you have up to 55 days to re-enter and 5 business days to renew it.

🔄 Renewal — Temporary residents must apply for renewal 30 days before their card expires.

🎉 You Got Your Mexican Visa — Now What?

First of all, congratulations! 🇲🇽 Getting through the Mexican consulate process is a huge achievement — no matter which visa category you applied for. Many applicants never make it this far, so give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back! 👏

Now it's time for your next steps: traveling to Mexico and exchanging your visa for your Resident Card. This process is known as the Canje, and it involves scheduling an appointment with the INM (Instituto Nacional de Migración) and submitting the required documents.

⚠️ Important — read this before you travel!
When you arrive at the Mexican border or airport, you must show your Mexican visa to the immigration officer, not just your passport. Once you enter the country, you'll generate an FMM (Forma Migratoria Múltiple), a key document for your Canje process. Make sure the purpose listed on your FMM says "Canje" — this gives you 30 days to complete the process with the INM.

Don't overlook this detail! A mistake at this stage can create unnecessary complications. 👀✅

🔥 Heat Alert in Mérida, Yucatán 🇲🇽

The temperatures in Yucatán are rising fast, and we’re entering days of extreme heat that can go beyond 45°C (113°F). This is not your typical warm weather—this level of heat can seriously affect your health if you’re not careful.

☀️ During these days, it’s important to adjust your routine:
• Try to stay indoors or in cool places as much as possible 🧊
• Keep yourself constantly hydrated—even if you don’t feel thirsty 💧
• Avoid going out during the strongest sun hours (late morning to mid-afternoon)
• Wear light, breathable clothes and protect yourself from direct sun
• Pay special attention to children, elderly people, and pets 🐾

⚠️ Mérida is known for its heat… but this is on another level. Take it seriously, listen to your body, and plan your days wisely.

Stay safe and take care 🙌
