Immigration processes typically require several visits to the INM (National Institute of Migration).

The first visit is scheduled by appointment (online or in person). During this visit, you submit the required documentation and complete the corresponding payments. If no additional documents or corrections are needed, your case can be approved at this stage.

On the second visit you have to wait in line, and those who arrive first are served first. By 8:00 a.m. it's already quite late, as you'll spend almost the entire day at the INM. On that day, they'll take your biometrics (photos and fingerprints), and you should leave with your Residency Card in hand. After so many processes, time and money, there are happy endings.

Meanwhile, get up early to wait in line, but don't worry, I'll do that for you 😅🫠🫩☕

Contact me! I'm Diana Lozano and I'll be happy to assist you!

𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒅. They are promised a job offer through which they will obtain a Residence Visa in Mexico. This is false. I’m not saying that this procedure doesn’t exist, but it is generally reserved for people with certain professional skills who, of course, are fluent in Spanish, and whose hiring company is willing to initiate a legal process with Migration and the Mexican Consulate to bring a foreigner to work and take responsibility for them. Such is the case for specialized workers for power plants, manufacturing plants, or production facilities, some hotels, bars, or restaurant chains, etc.

Of course, both parties are free to agree on whatever they deem best, but ideally, a first payment should be made at the end of an initial stage, not before. Be wary of anyone who, from a distance and without having done anything, is asking you for money. There are many people carrying out these scams now. 🇲🇽 MEXICO VISA LEVELS – SIMPLE BREAKDOWN 🇲🇽
A lot of people have asked me about how visas work down here, so here’s the short + simple version 👇

1️⃣ Tourist Visa (a.k.a. “Passport Stamp”)
• This is what you get when you just fly in with your passport.
• It usually gives you up to 180 days in the country.
• Perfect for vacations, short stays, or if you’re just feeling things out before making a move.
• You can’t work or open official accounts with just this — it’s purely for visiting.

2️⃣ Temporary Residency
• The next step up! This is for people planning to stay longer-term — digital nomads, retirees, or anyone living part-time in Mexico.
• Usually granted for 1 year first, then renewable for up to 4 years total.
✅ Benefits:
• You can live in Mexico legally full-time.
• You can open a bank account, buy property, register a car, and get a Mexican ID.
• You can even come and go freely without resetting your time.

3️⃣ Permanent Residency
• After holding Temporary Residency for 4 years, you can apply for Permanent Residency.
• You can also qualify directly in some cases (like higher income/savings or family ties).
✅ Benefits:
• No renewals ever again — you’re good for life.
• You can work, own property, and live here full-time just like a local.
• You don’t need to leave or re-enter to reset anything.
• Basically, it’s your forever visa.

4️⃣ Mexican Citizenship 🇲🇽
• The final step! After a few years as a permanent resident (usually 5), you can apply to become a Mexican citizen.
• You’ll take a simple Spanish and history test, and once approved…
✅ You get:
• A Mexican passport (one of the strongest in Latin America)
• Full voting rights and all national privileges
• The ability to own restricted beachfront property outright
• And you can keep dual citizenship (U.S. + Mexico = yes, it’s allowed ✅)

TL;DR:
✈️ Tourist: 180 days
🏠 Temporary: Up to 4 years, renewable
💼 Permanent: Lifetime residency
🦅 Citizen: Full rights + passport

If you’ve been curious about living in Mexico or taking the next step beyond being a tourist, this should help clear up the path 💡

P.S., I must say that this was a post made by a very nice client, and he authorized me to use it for my page 🙂
