Los barrios antiguos — Santiago, Santa Ana, San Juan, San Sebastián, La Mejorada — crecieron alrededor de su iglesia y su parque. Por eso cada uno tiene su propia plaza, su fiesta y sus puestos de siempre.

Caminas diez minutos y cambias de ambiente por completo. 🚶

Nuestro consejo: primero elige barrio, luego casa. Ve al parque en la noche y al mercado en la mañana.

¿Marquesita con queso o sin queso? 🧀

En Mérida la respuesta correcta lleva queso de bola. Desliza. 👉

🌀 Es una crepa que se cocina en plancha redonda hasta crujir y se enrolla como barquillo.
🧀 Por dentro: queso de bola (edam) rallado, casi siempre con algo dulce — cajeta, Nutella o lechera.
🌙 Se compra de noche, en carritos, en los parques y en el Paseo de Montejo.

Salado con dulce. Así se come aquí. 😄

Pleats down the front, four pockets, worn outside the trousers. In Yucatán a long-sleeved white guayabera is formal wear — weddings, offices, good restaurants.

It's built for the climate the same way the houses are: loose, light, and made to let the air through. 🌬️

For women, the embroidered huipil — and the terno for fiestas — with flowers stitched by hand in towns across the peninsula.

What does Mérida do on a Thursday night? 🎸

Every Thursday at nine, Parque Santa Lucía fills for the Serenata — a free evening of trova yucateca: guitars, three voices, and songs your grandmother knows by heart.

The city has kept it going since the 1960s. Grandparents bring folding chairs; visitors wander in and stay. 🌙

Our honest advice to anyone coming to look at property: plan one Thursday into the trip.

Why do they sell Lebanese food on the beaches of Yucatán? 🥙

Spend a Sunday on the Progreso malecón and someone will offer you kibis. Swipe. 👉

Kibi is the Lebanese kibbeh — bulgur wheat and ground meat, shaped and fried — served here with lime, pickled onion and habanero.

Lebanese families began arriving in Yucatán in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and many settled in Mérida. A century later their food isn't 'foreign' at all. It's just Yucatecan. 🇱🇧🇲🇽

🇲🇽 El kibi es el kibbeh libanés: trigo y carne, frito, con limón y cebolla. Las familias libanesas llegaron a Yucatán hace más de un siglo y hoy es comida yucateca.
