🌱 Community Update | Women Palm Tree Organisation 🌱
Yesterday, the Women Palm Tree Organisation received 126 fruit tree seedlings 🍓🍑 to be planted at Freedom Land.
Due to the current situation in Dzaleka Refugee Camp, fruit is very expensive and often unavailable. We are worried that in the coming years our children may face malnutrition. Planting fruit trees is a sustainable solution to improve nutrition and secure a healthier future for our community.
🙏 Thank you to Beta Organisation for your generous donation. Your support means so much to us.
Our goal is to plant 600 fruit trees, but so far we have 126. We are kindly calling on individuals and organisations who can support us to help reach this goal. Together, we can nourish our children and protect their future.
💚🌳 Every tree matters.

Wishing you a joyful Christmas and a hopeful, impactful New Year. 🎄✨

✨ WPTO in Action During the 16 Days of Activism ✨

Last Saturday, our Executive Director Kahozi wa Kahozi delivered a powerful talk on the evolution of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at Msakambewa Village, during an event organized by the Dowa District Gender Office under the theme “Against Digital Gender-Based Violence.”

On the same occasion, WPTO Executive Director Kahozi wa Kahozi also spoke on MBC Malawi, raising awareness about the realities of GBV at Dzaleka Refugee Camp and advocating for the protection and empowerment of vulnerable communities.

🌿 At Women Palm Tree Organisation (WPTO), we remain committed to promoting safety, dignity, and equality for all women and girls.

Authorities say efforts to combat gender-based violence are progressing well at Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa District.

This is according to Kahozi wa Kahozi Serge Director of Women Palm Tree, an organisation that promotes gender equality within the camp.

In an interview with , Kahozi wa Kahozi said the organisation has introduced several strategies aimed at reducing gender-based violence, including regular awareness campaigns across the camp.

He added that strong collaboration with government stakeholders has contributed significantly to the progress, especially considering that the camp hosts people from various countries and cultural backgrounds.

Last Saturday, Dowa District Gender Officer, Edina Ndasowa, said she is pleased with how gender-based violence interventions are being implemented in the district.

Ndasowa said community members are now more willing to report any form of abuse they experience.
