Kamra tal-Periti finds ’s claims on AP Valletta’s Bartolott Crypt works at St John's Cathedral completely unfounded.

After more than a year of proceedings, the Kamra tal-Periti has cleared AP Valletta Architects Perit Danica Cachia Mifsud and Perit Konrad Buhagiar of every allegation arising from The Shift’s reporting on the Bartolott Crypt at St John’s Co-Cathedral.

The Council found no evidence to support claims that the Crypt floor had “caved in” or “collapsed”, or that “severe damage” had been caused to the historic fabric or burial chambers. It further found no causal link between AP Valletta’s design and the localised settlement observed.

The Council described The Shift’s reporting as “materially misguided”, while concluding that the architects had acted “with due diligence and transparency throughout.” The Council expressed its concern at the inaccuracy of the reporting.

AP Valletta were assisted by Dalli Advocates throughout the proceedings.

Veronique Dalli spoke to Juliana Zammit from MaltaToday about the legal issues surrounding Malta’s “Are We Dating the Same Guy?” Facebook group.

These groups raise questions about the balance between protecting women, freedom of expression, privacy and reputation. A closed online group does not place its members outside the scope of defamation law, and even a post framed as a question may carry legal consequences depending on the meaning conveyed.
The article examines the application of Malta’s Media and Defamation Act, including the limitations of the defence of truth in matters concerning private life and the potential relevance of the public-interest defence.

For several years, Mark Terence Agius has been on the receiving end of a series of serious allegations which spread through social media and the court of public opinion. Throughout this time, he has consistently and patiently answered every allegation in the only forum that matters: the courtroom, through evidence-based proceedings.

Today serves as a timely reminder that allegations are not evidence, and that justice is achieved through due process - not by trial on social media.

Through objective and independent evidence, Mr Agius has substantiated his position before the courts. Yet, despite these developments, his child remains missing, and the child's mother remains wanted by the Police.

If you have any information that could assist in locating the child or the mother, please pass it on to the Malta Police Force. Help us bring this child home.

Mark Terence Agius is represented by lawyers Veronique Dalli and Dean Hili
