Moldova aims to revamp its prison system, replacing the aged Prison no. 13 in Chisinau with a modern facility aligned with European standards. This initiative seeks to tackle overcrowding, enhance healthcare, and foster meaningful activities for detainees. UNOPS, partnered with the Ministry of Justice of Moldova, will spearhead the construction of this new 1,050-inmate capacity facility.

As a Senior Project Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing the design and construction of this innovative penitentiary project.

Lead the design and construction of this ground-breaking penitentiary project: Utilize your expertise in project management and infrastructure to ensure success. Collaborate closely with government bodies, manage operations, and drive the project to meet set benchmarks.

Responsibilities include:

IMPORTANT!!!

Interim Director of the Department of Penitentiary Institutions, Aureliu Suhan, is currently participating with the State Secretary of State of the Ministry of Justice, Anatolie Munteanu, and the Head of the Council of Europe Office, Eva Gutjahr, at the launching of the Council of Europe Program "Promoting a Criminal Justice System based on respect for human rights in the Republic of Moldova ". The meeting takes place in C. Bristol's conference hall in Chisinau, attended by representatives of the Council of Europe, heads of departments within the DIP, the National Probation Inspectorate, the People's Advocate, and other guests.

During the event, the guests presented the proposed Implementation Program and the expected results in relation to it.

The Secretary General of State and the Interim Director thanked the Council of Europe for the proposed technical assistance that is essential in the process of reorganizing the penitentiary system and ensuring the continuity of those reforms initiated with the support of NORLAM and other development partners.

Close to NORLAM`s exit we had the pleasure to present our project at prison no 17 Rezina - prison for lifers - to The Salvation Army at Eastern Europe Territory. Today we can see an upcooming cooperation between the prison and The Salvation Army. Best wishes for the important and future cooperation!
