We take social, economic, and environmental responsibility seriously. In 2024, we set an ambitious goal to become carbon neutral by 2050 and, therefore, partnered with the National Untouched Forest Support Fund to plant 40 thousand trees.

Today, we are halfway there, and about 20 thousand trees are in the ground. For the third year in a row, our colleagues spent time outdoors protecting the seedlings ahead of winter. 🌲

Long-term projects require commitment and persistence, complemented by reliability and strategic flexibility. A forest is a living legacy and a reminder that small, consistent actions build momentum over time. Just as we tend our forest season after season, our specialists stand by our clients for the long run.

After May, October is the second month of the year dedicated globally to mental health campaigns. To mark World Mental Health Day, we traditionally organised a variety of activities aimed at raising awareness and highlighting the value of mental balance.

📍 In Vilnius , we joined Jaunimo linija and the national campaign Green Light For Life. 💚 Colleagues dressed in green and brought homemade cakes for a charity treat table – a sweet reminder of the power of thoughtfulness and togetherness. Every slice enjoyed became a donation to Jaunimo linija, supporting their mission to provide free and confidential emotional support to those who need it. On top of that, colleagues had the chance to immerse themselves in the sounds and vibrations of gongs, known to help ease muscle tension and restore inner balance. 🎶

📍 In Riga , the neurologist Dr Lelde Klemente shared insights on the role of lifestyle in maintaining health and preventing chronic diseases. The doctor talked about four key pillars of a healthy lifestyle (nutrition 🥑, physical activity 🚴, sleep 😴, and stress management 🧘‍♀️) and how they work together to affect metabolism.

Small moments of care add up. Technology and AI can do a lot but they can never replace a real conversation and genuine connection. Let's keep looking after ourselves and each other! 💚

👏Last Thursday, the second Tallinn Arbitration Day brought together around 120 arbitration practitioners, representatives of arbitral institutions, in-house counsel and academics from around 20 countries at the Club of Different Rooms in Tallinn.

The programme focused on defence industry disputes, arbitration in the context of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and the intersection of public international law and dispute resolution.

COBALT was proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the event. Our Partner Annika Peetsalu was one of the event’s organisers and hosts, while our Assistant Lawyer Heiti Talvik contributed as a member of the Tallinn Arbitration Day marketing team.

We wrapped up the day in great company with a dinner prepared by head chef Tõnis Saar at the COBALT office. Our Legal Assistant Merilin Mägisoo helped organise the evening event. 🍽️

Latvia has strengthened its national security framework with amendments to the National Security Law, introducing new safeguards for Category D critical infrastructure, revising the scope of critical IT service providers and clarifying the beneficial ownership threshold.

The changes are relevant for critical infrastructure operators, investors, technology providers and financing parties, particularly when assessing ownership and control, financing arrangements and transactions involving critical infrastructure.

🔋 Evecon sells one of the largest battery energy storage projects in Estonia and the Baltics

The Raudsepa battery energy storage system, a 192 MW / 420 MWh project near the Tsirguliina high voltage substation in southern Estonia, approximately 50 kilometres south of Tartu, has been sold to Taaleri Energia and KJK Capital.

⚡ Developed by Evecon, a leading renewable energy developer in the Baltics, the project has reached a final investment decision and is set to become one of the largest battery energy storage projects in Estonia and the Baltics. It will be equipped with LG Energy Solution batteries and European-made Power Electronics inverters, and will operate under a multi-market optimisation strategy, capturing value from both electricity arbitrage and ancillary services markets.
