Small hands, bright futures 🌱📚✨

At Sisters-at-Law, every lesson is a step toward healing, confidence and hope. From learning Tamil, Sinhala, Maths, Environment, and English to exploring creativity through play and imagination, our little beneficiary is growing in a safe space where she is encouraged to dream, learn and thrive.

We are helping break cycles of abuse and building a world where every child feels safe, empowered and valued. 🌍✨

Honoured to be part of the World Autism Day 2026 celebrations with the E.A.S.E Foundation

Bindoo Bird and her friends from Sisters-at-Law performed a short drama that explored what it feels like to experience the world a little differently and the importance of being seen, understood, and accepted.

Thank you to the E.A.S.E Foundation for inviting us to be part of such a meaningful day and for the incredible work you do in creating inclusive spaces for children and individuals with diverse neurological needs.

Through the story we shared, we were reminded that being different is not being less. It is simply another way of seeing, feeling, and moving through the world—one that deserves respect, not sympathy.

Here’s to choosing kindness over judgment, patience over pressure and celebrating neurodiversity with strength and pride. 💙

What a wonderful way to mark Women's Day. 🌸

The Colombo District Secretariat honoured twelve women this Women's Day, one from each district, who built their own businesses after years as homemakers. Their recognition was long overdue and beautifully deserved.

The day also gave a well-earned spotlight to women in janitorial roles, and brought important conversations about women's health to the table.

At Sisters at Law, we're proud to be part of this alongside the Colombo District Secretariat, a partnership built on a shared belief that every woman's contribution deserves to be seen.

Congratulations to every woman honoured. 💜

Today, we reunited a mother with her little girl 🤍

A 6 year old was on the verge of being sent to an orphanage on the basis that her mother was not financially and mentally fit to care for her. The mother came to us in tears; worried, overwhelmed and desperate to hold her daughter again.

We listened. We believed her. And we acted swiftly.

In less than a day, we were able to stop the child from being institutionalised and reunite this family. But our work doesn’t end there. We have undertaken to support both mother and child, ensuring the little one is sent to school and empowering the mother economically while they are with us at the shelter.

No child belongs in an institution when love, support and community can keep a family together. This is what we stand for — restoring dignity, protecting motherhood and keeping families united. 🤍

This Independence Day, Sisters-at-Law celebrated with purpose. 🇱🇰✨

At the request of a woman from the community, we welcomed 20 children to our organization to mark the day under the theme “Education is Freedom.”

With the support of our dedicated young volunteers, we engaged the children in meaningful discussions and role-play sessions on important values such as responsibility, non-violence, love, kindness and the true meaning of freedom.

Bindoo Bird also made a special visit, sharing the story of Rani to help the children understand the importance of good touch and bad touch in a safe and child-friendly way.

Because true freedom begins with awareness, knowledge, and the courage to protect oneself and others. 💛

We welcomed the dawn of the New Year in the most meaningful way — together. 🌅

With our beneficiaries and volunteers who help keep Sisters-at-Law going, we shared a meal lovingly prepared by the beneficiaries, boiled milk and sang songs to mark new beginnings

As the milk rose and overflowed, a symbol of abundance and hope, the beneficiaries sang “I Have a Dream,” pouring their dreams for the future into the New Year. ✨

May this year, like the boiling milk, overflow with strength, healing, dignity and possibility.

This Christmas, our hearts are full 🤍✨
Looking back at the Christmas Market on 14th December, lovingly organized by ApiHappi and Tripti, we are so grateful for the support shown to Sisters-at-Law 🎄

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall, the amazing vendors and all who came out to support the market, we raised a significant amount for our work. These funds will help strengthen Sisters-at-Law’s ongoing efforts and also support families affected by the recent cyclone as they rebuild with resilience and hope.

Community, kindness, and solidarity — this is what Christmas is all about ✨
Thank you for standing with us 🤍🎄
