Let us help.
📍 Seoul | Pyeongtaek Pureum Law Office has provided specialized legal assistance to foreigners in Korea since 2014. Over 2.5 million foreigners who are living in Korea have limited access to good lawyers due to language barriers, lack of information, and cultural differences. In Korea, many lawyers hesitate to take cases involving foreigners, as such matters often require in-depth knowledge of immigration law and foreign legal systems. We strive to bridge this gap by enhancing access to legal services for foreign individuals, families and business partners, both in Korea and internationally. PLO also handles corporate legal affairs, particularly for foreign invested SMEs and start-ups. Over the past decade, Pureum has succeeded in over 3,000 cases, becoming a trusted partner for clients navigating South Korea’s legal landscape. South Korea had some immigration policy changes in the past year. For foreign workers in Korea, here are 5 noteworthy ones.

1. New E-7-M (K-CORE) work visa
Korea launched a brand-new visa for foreign graduates of technical colleges. If you study at one of 16 designated schools, meet Korean language requirements, and land a manufacturing job paying at least 26 million won a year — you can now switch straight to a work visa built for you.

2. Top Tier visa expanded
Korea's premium Top-Tier visa was originally for highly-skilled individuals in semiconductor, biotech, defense, and robotics industries. As of June 2026, application eligibility has expanded to university professors and researchers in science and tech fields.

3. E-7 salary changes
If you're sponsoring or applying for an E-7 visa, the minimum salary requirements were raised for 2026 filings. The same floor now applies no matter how big or small the company is.

4. K-ETA exemption until end of 2026
If you’re traveling to Korea, nationals from previously-exempt countries don't need a K-ETA at all from now until the end of 2026. But once you do need one, it's now valid for 3 years, not 2.

4. F-4 visa holders restricted jobs
If you're an overseas Korean on an F-4 visa, the list of restricted jobs was officially updated in February 2026.

Korea's immigration system is shifting toward more specific, skill-based pathways, which means more options, but also more to keep track of. Contact Pureum Law Office if you need advice on your situation.

How to Protect Yourself in Financial Transactions with Korean Companies and Individuals: This video is our second post in our Debt Collection series.

Protecting yourself means doing the right things before something goes wrong. A solid contract, basic due diligence, a personal guarantee, proper security, and a clear dispute clause can be the difference between a deal that pays off and a debt you never recover.

If you're already in a situation where a Korean counterparty isn't paying, our other videos and articles on our blog cover the debt collection process step by step. Visit the website in the description and follow our channel for more.
