It was a pleasure to attend the workshop on “The Construction Sector and Alternative Dispute Resolution: Reviving Stalled Commercial Infrastructure through Alternative Dispute Resolution,” co-hosted by the National Commercial Arbitration Centre (NCAC) and UNDP.

The workshop brought together national experts from relevant ministries and institutions, alongside international experts from Malaysia and Singapore, to share valuable insights and practical experiences on the role of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in addressing disputes and supporting the revival of stalled commercial infrastructure projects.

Beyond the substantive discussions, the workshop also provided a valuable platform for professionals from different sectors to connect, exchange experiences, and build meaningful networks. It was a great opportunity to strengthen cross-sector collaboration and promote greater awareness and use of ADR in Cambodia’s construction and infrastructure sector.

Breakfast Talk on “Arbitration of Energy Disputes”

We were pleased to attend an insightful Breakfast Talk on “Arbitration of Energy Disputes.” The discussion covered the key stakeholders and contracts commonly involved in energy projects, the types of disputes that may arise, the procedural challenges associated with arbitrating complex energy disputes, and practical lessons for arbitrators handling such cases.

Beyond the substantive discussion, the event also provided a valuable opportunity for NCAC members to connect, exchange experiences, and strengthen professional relationships through networking.

We had the valuable opportunity to attend an insightful and engaging session led by Japanese professors with extensive academic and practical experience in Civil Law. The session provided us with a deeper understanding of the concept of factual acknowledgment in civil claims, including its significance in civil proceedings and the manner in which facts presented by the parties may be acknowledged, examined, assessed, and relied upon in the determination of a case.

In addition to the civil law session, we also had the opportunity to explore the registration and implementation of patents in the field of Intellectual Property Law. The session provided us with a broader overview of the applicable procedures, key requirements, and practical considerations involved in patent registration, protection, and enforcement. It was particularly valuable in helping us appreciate the practical application of intellectual property principles within the legal framework.

We sincerely appreciate the Contribution of Law for organizing this valuable learning opportunity, as well as the distinguished professors for generously sharing their knowledge, experience, and practical insights with us. The sessions were an excellent opportunity for professional development and have meaningfully contributed to enhancing our knowledge and perspective as legal practitioners.
