Happy New Year Ladies and gentlemen, hope you started your year 2020 well. As for the East African Women Lawyers Association we are starting our year by engaging legal partners. EAWLA paid a courtesy call to Lady Justice Martha Koome where both parties agreed to develop a partnership with the National Council on the Administration of Justice especially representing the rights of intersex children

It was a pleasure working with X-SUBA Sports 4 Development and with the grassroots officials from walukuba-masese community in Jinja district Uganda. Legal aid education and public participation are key in ensuring the rights and dignity of women, girls and children are observed
EAWLA conducted a paralegal training session with the women of Jinja Community at the X-SUBA Sport 4 Development Center where the community was taken through the steps to follow in case of any form of gender based violence

The African Women’s Public Service Fellowship, made possible by a donation from the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, expands the opportunity for African women to impact for public service in their home countries.
The Fellowship provides full tuition, fees, housing, travel to and from the United States, and a small stipend to cover books and miscellaneous expenses.
Fellowship recipients commit to return to their respective home countries at the conclusion of the program with the goal of assuming a leadership position on the continent where they can meaningfully contribute to the challenges currently confronting Africa.
The deadline for receiving applications is December 2, 2019.
