Our country has talented youth who need work not handouts.
This is part of the reason I helped create, and then served on the board of the Kenya premier league - so our talented footballers could be paid and the game could be professionalized.

Listening to this poem, I reflect on how many times these issues are repeated everywhere we go.
How long must Kenyans repeat themselves before they are heard and before leaders align development plans to people's needs?
Leadership is about serving those who effectively are your employers. And you cannot serve who you do not listen to.

As Mwongozo Mpya Party,MMP we not only hear you, our policies are based on these discussions. We have deliberately chosen to consult rather than formulate boardroom policies in Nairobi then come and tell people what they "need".

Servant leadership is about listening.
We have been meeting our Mwongozo Mpya Party,MMP members in Machakos to listen to them on the issues that are affecting residents of Machakos.
Kenyans are very clear on the challenges at local, county and national level.

One of the recurring issues across all the counties we have visited including Machakos, is access to water.
Another challenges are opportunities for youth and ease of business.
National and county priorities should first serve the needs of the citizens, not the wants of those in power.

Kila tunakoenda, wakaazi wanalia juu ya ukosefu wa maji na changamoto za kuchota maji ya mto au kuejda mbali wakitafuta maji.
Mombasa - ukosefu wa maji
Taita Taveta - ukosefu wa maji
Narok - ukosefu wa maji
Machakos - ukosefu wa maji
Makueni - ukosefu wa maji
Na hii sio shida ya Leo. Tangu niwe kijana mdogo, hii shida imekuepo.
Hata Makueni ambapo Konza Techo polis Iko, Konza inashuhulikiwa ilhali inabidi wakaazi wengi wa Makueni waende safari ndefu kuchita maji wakitunia punda.
Baada ya miaka 63, hatufai kuwa tunaongea juu ya maji.

Iwapo waKenya watukufu watanichagua k**a Rais wao na wachague viongozi wa Mwongozo Mpya Party,MMP Mimi binafsi ninawaahidi tutatatua hii shida.
Maji ni uhai.
Maji ni haki.

Everywhere we go, the residents complain about lack of water.
From Mombasa to Taita Taveta. Narok to Machakos, even in Makueni, the home of the Konza techno polis, many residents must fetch water from the river.
After 63 years of independence, water should not be a problem.
The problem is people-focused, servant leadership.
I assure you, if you, the people of Kenya, vote for and Macharia Njeru as their President, we will resolve the problem of water shortage.
This is my personal commitment.
The internet never forgets.

The best time to plant a tree was last year.
The second best time is today.

To me, saying it has never been done before, is not a reason not to do the right thing today.

Together, we can turn this country around, not as politicians, but as people who come together for the common good of all, not just the selfish benefit for some.

After all, power has always belonged to the people.

Mwongozo Mpya Party,MMP is committed to a 50/50 gender leadership not just two thirds. They are more than capable. We want to encourage women of integrity and whose values align with the values to join with us.
Our party is also committed to substantive youth representation.
And we shall not start later. We already practice what we preach. Our national governing council and leadership already reflect this.

Additionally we are committed to the 5% rule for inclusion of Persons With Disability.
Leadership must reflect the people it serves.

Behind the smiles, the residents of Makueni face many hardships.
One lady stood up and introduced herself. She is a widow. She lost her husband in an accident at Kaiti. She spoke about the many women widowed and families bereaved due to accidents where there should be bridges.
She was not alone. A young man said the same thing.
Makueni has many river crossings but the bridges are the problem. The accident spots are known. The question is whether there is the will by the leadership, to resolve the issues.
I assure the people of Makueni, under the Mwongozo Mpya Party,MMP government, we will work together to build the bridges needed.

Today we are in the great county of Makueni.
A rich county with mangoes, oranges, and so many other agricultural products. Yet their riches are not reaching their pockets.
We are here to listen to them. A new kind of leadership is needed whereby the wealth of a county benefits the county and the country. Mwongozo Mpya Party,MMP

Why don't many leaders empower their citizens to become wealthy?
We need to speak the truth, even if it makes some people uncomfortable.

Water is a human right.
Sixty-three years after independence, we should not be talking about lack of water or having to move for very long distances to fetch water.
In my government, one of the first things we will solve. We can solve this easily. We have the will and we are committed to serving Kenyans.
