… Kenya cannot become a holding ground for dangerous infectious diseases outsourced by foreign states seeking to shield their own territories from risk.

Consequently, and in defence of the Constitution and in the public interest, the Society has moved to the High Court under Nairobi Constitutional Petition No. E334 of 2026; Law Society of Kenya v. Ministry of Health & Others seeking urgent constitutional intervention in opposition to the proposed arrangement.

The Law Society of Kenya will continue to defend constitutionalism, public accountability and the safety, dignity and well-being of the people of Kenya. - the LSK President SC in a statement on the proposed setting up of an Ebola Quarantine facility in Kenya.

The Law Society of Kenya today hosted a strategic engagement with Advocates for International Development (A4ID), represented by Patrick Karanja, and chaired by Wycklife Oyoo, Convener – Public Interest Litigation (PIL), to deepen collaboration on advancing Business and Human Rights (BHR) practice in Kenya. Discussions focused on positioning BHR as a key area of legal practice, including the ongoing development of practical guidelines to support advocates in integrating BHR standards into legal work.

The two institutions further deliberated on a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), a joint calendar of activities, collaborative fundraising initiatives, and capacity-building programmes. The engagement also explored advancing the development of local jurisprudence on Business and Human Rights with the potential for broader international adoption, alongside strengthening access to justice and responsible business conduct.
