Another affirmation of regulatory integrity.
The High Court has upheld Estate Agents Registration Board's decision in a case filed by Mohammed Rajab Khamis after the Board declined to proceed with his application for interview and registration because he had not submitted the required recommendation letter from a Registered Estate Agent, as prescribed under the registration requirements.
This decision is more than a legal victory for the Board. It is an affirmation that statutory regulators have a duty to uphold the law consistently, fairly and without compromise. Regulatory standards exist to protect the integrity of the profession and the public interest, and they cannot be set aside through litigation where lawful procedures have been followed.
The judgment reinforces an important principle: every applicant seeking registration must satisfy the requirements established under the Estate Agents Act before advancing through the registration process. Compliance with these requirements is not a formality, it is the foundation of a professional, accountable and trusted real estate sector.
