Criminal jurisprudence is not equipped to curb FGM because the practice is customary and not criminal per se. Only social engineering will. Square pins don't seal round holes. The penal consequences for FGM have only led to loads of women suffering incarceration.

I have successfully defended several FGM related cases and have gained deep insight into the practice. Meanwhile the, usually poor women, who cannot afford legal representation, will continue double victimisations with NGO's and the GK cheering on.
