Kachapin & Company Advocates joins the nation in mourning the passing of Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga (Baba). 🇰🇪

Today, Kenya lays to rest a towering statesman — a man whose life was defined by courage, sacrifice, and an unyielding pursuit of justice and democracy.

Baba was instrumental in the birth of the 2010 Constitution and stood as the greatest champion of devolution — ensuring that every Kenyan, from every corner of this nation, could feel the presence and power of government closer to home. There is no Kenyan whose life has not been touched by his leadership, either directly or indirectly.

His personal story of endurance — from years of detention, to losing his beloved mother while in confinement and only being told of her passing three months later — stands as a testament to his immense sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Together with his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, he made history in 1992 as the first father and son to serve in Parliament simultaneously, a legacy of generational courage and conviction.

As a firm that believes deeply in constitutionalism and the rule of law, we honour Baba’s lifelong commitment to justice, democracy and good governance. His vision will forever guide those of us who serve within the halls of justice.

His vision will live forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace 🕊️

We had the privilege of representing Ms. Charlene Ruto in court this week in a matter concerning impersonation.

This reflects our continued dedication at Kachapin & Company Advocates to handling high-stakes cases with professionalism, guided by justice, integrity and excellence.

Nairobi city lawyer Kevin Kachapin who is the son of West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin appeared in court on Wednesday representing President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene.

Kevin represented Charlene in a case where a man is charged with impersonating her.

The court was scheduled to deliver a ruling on whether to dismiss the case on grounds that the complainant, Charlene, has failed to appear in court to testify.

The accused, Webstar Ochora Elijah, is charged with impersonating Charlene.

The charge sheet shows that Elijah, jointly with another person not before court and operating under the name Zawadi Publishers, falsely represented himself as Charlene Ruto.

The alleged offence was committed on May 22, 2025 at an unknown place within Kenya.

The legislation, which embeds key principles that guarantee sustainability, inclusivity, accountability and effectiveness, aims at, amongst others, improving economic opportunities and alleviating extreme poverty in West Pokot County; establishing and promoting sustainable micro-enterprises through training, capital grants and mentorship; and offering post-graduation business development support to ensure long-term sustainability.

Village Enterprise is on a mission to end extreme poverty for 20 million people by 2030, improve their well-being and resilience, and ensure a brighter future for generations to come.
