[ FOREIGN RESIDENTS ON WORKING VISAS IN JAPAN]
I recently spoke to a qualified lawyer who specialises in visa-related matters in Japan. If you are struggling with your work or visa situation, please let me know. This lawyer will be more
than happy to assist you.
These are some of the options they spoke of:
# Visa A
The conditions of the Specialist in Humanities Visa have been relaxed, allowing people to work in almost any field. Basically, this is intended to secure any form of temporary income that will allow you to meet living expenses, until your designated work resumes.
# Visa B
There is a specific category for job hunting, for those who have been made redundant and need some time to seek new employment. This allows you to extend your period of stay if you are unable to find any work within the period designated by your existing visa.
# Visa C
There are visa categories in designated, high-demand fields such as restaurants and factories. Visa A would be better option for those who are planning to apply for permanent residency at some point in the future.
These are three visa options you could apply for, and there are some additional governmental support payments you may be eligible for as well, namely:
1. for freelancers (including subcontracted workers)
2. for anyone who leases a company office in Japan
