Hello everyone. Christmas is just around the corner—how are you doing?

I happened to come across the following post on X and would like to share it with you.
In Ibaraki Prefecture, police officers are reportedly visiting farms and other workplaces to check whether there are any foreign nationals working illegally. Similar inspections are likely taking place in other regions as well.

Regardless of the circumstances, in order to work in Japan, it is necessary to have a visa that matches the type of work being performed.
If someone does not have a valid visa, there is a rule that by voluntarily reporting themselves to Immigration, the re-entry ban period will be limited to one year.

If you are worried about your situation or have any concerns, please feel free to consult my office.

(Below is the English translation of an X post.)

To prevent illegal stay and illegal employment, the Prefectural Police and the Ibaraki Prefecture Office for the Promotion of Proper Employment of Foreign Nationals are visiting farms and other workplaces across the prefecture.

If you employ foreign nationals, please make sure to check their status of residence and work authorization.

Hello!
How is the first weekend of December going?

For many international students who have already received job offers starting in April, this is the time of year when they begin preparing to change their visa status to Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services. and so on

Every year, a large number of students apply for this visa change, and immigration agency start accepting applications from December.

If you apply after February, the result may not come out before April, which means you may not be able to start working from April as scheduled.

If you already have a job offer starting in April, please make sure to submit your application as early as possible and avoid delays.

It’s a beautiful season—the autumn leaves are wonderfully colorful🍁

【Important Notice: Visa Fee Increase Expected in 2026】
Although the exact month has not been confirmed, it appears that visa renewal fees in Japan will increase significantly starting in 2026.
The current fee of ¥6,000 (or ¥5,500 online) is expected to rise to approximately ¥30,000–¥40,000.
This change seems to be part of an effort to align Japan’s fee structure with those of Western countries, where visa-related costs are typically much higher. However, the sudden increase may come as a surprise and create financial pressure for many foreign residents.
It is also notable that the fee was raised from ¥4,000 to ¥6,000 just earlier this year, which was the first adjustment in more than 40 years.
We will continue monitoring official announcements from the Ministry of Justice and share updates as more details become available....

The government is aiming to raise fees to match those charged by Western nations in fiscal 2026 amid an increase in the number of foreign residents.

Hello everyone☺
Many of you may already know this, but when applying for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) for Filipino and Vietnamese applicants, it is now required to submit a Certificate of Non-Active Tuberculosis (TB).
To obtain this certificate, applicants must undergo testing at designated hospitals located in major cities. Please note that this test is different from the standard medical examination taken by Technical Intern Trainees before coming to Japan.
Since an appointment is required for the test and it may take several days to complete, please make sure to plan ahead if you are preparing to apply for a COE.

We held consultation event today.
It was rainy and cold, so there were fewer visitors than usual.
One of the guests came with a serious concern — their visa will expire in a short time, but they still want to stay in Japan.
We talked about their situation, and after listening carefully, I suggested,“How about trying this option?”
When they realized, “Yes! That’s possible!” — we were both so happy☺Sometimes, by talking things through, new possibilities become clear.
A big thank-you to Mama Episode 1 Philippine Resto bar and Lheen Ruedas Loquino for all your support today!

21/10/2025

As many of you may already know, the requirements for the Business Manager Visa have become much stricter starting October 16 of last week.
For example, even those who obtained their visa last year with a capital of 5 million yen are now required to increase their capital to 30 million yen within three years or hire staff members who are proficient in Japanese under the new regulations.

☆Requirements:
(1) Employment of at least one full-time employee
The applicant must employ one or more full-time staff members.
(2) Capital of 30 million yen or more
The company must have a paid-in capital of at least 30 million yen.
(3) Japanese language proficiency
Either the applicant or at least one full-time employee must possess a sufficient level of Japanese language ability.
(4) Educational background or experience
The applicant must either:
- Hold a doctoral, master’s, or professional degree in a field related to business management or the industry relevant to the proposed business, or
- Have at least three years of experience in business management or administration.
(5) Business plan and professional evaluation
When submitting the business plan at the time of residence status determination, the plan must be specific, rational, and feasible.
To assess these points, it is required to involve a professional with expertise in business management (such as a certified public accountant).

There has been a rapid rise in the number of business manager visa holders in recent years, triggering concerns some are merely using it as an easy route to long-term residency.

【3-year visa has been approved for mother and her child at the same time🎉】
We applied for the visa renewal for a mother and her child.
The mother came to Japan four years ago, and her child joined her a year later. The child is from her previous marriage.
They are now living happily together with her Japanese husband as a family of three.
This time, both the mother and child were granted three-year residence visas, and I was truly delighted.
I feel very grateful to be able to play even a small part in this family’s journey. 💖
