The Italian Electronic Identity Card (CIE) is an identification document issued by the Ministry of the Interior. It serves as an important form of identification for Italians (and non-Italians residing in Italy), for both bureaucratic and travel purposes.

The great news is that, as of June 1, there is now more flexibility when it comes to obtaining a CIE for Italian citizens residing abroad. โฌ‡๏ธ
