Although evidence suggests the Mari Family being manufactoring majolica in deruta since the sixteenth century, official records show among the ancestors one Giuseppe da Diruta, who in the eighteenth century had a kiln near the ga¬tes of the town called "Il cerro".It was not until the 1930’s that three brothers and their brother-in-law had the idea to organize the Company properly for the productio

n of traditional ceramics. The F.lli Mari Company was founded in 1932, the year which production sturted. Over the years, thanks mainly to the initial work of the founders and their successors, but also thanks to the work of talented artists of the area, the Company has made a name for itself through the world, and won recognitions to various exhibitions and competions. Today F.lli Mari is one of the most prestigious companies of Deruta and its collection includes a great variety of classical and modern pieces, classified as : giftware, objects for home and kitchenware. Traditional forms/shapes with their timeless beauty account for a major part of the product line hand made at the Mari factory and they offer one of the best examples of the majolica tradition.
