The Union Cabinet has approved the enhancement of the wage ceiling for mandatory EPFO coverage from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month, effective 17 September 2026.

💼 12 YEARS. A NEW WAGE CEILING.

In September 2014, the Central Government enhanced the EPF wage ceiling from ₹6,500 to ₹15,000 per month.

Now, after 12 years, in September 2026, the Union Cabinet has approved a further enhancement of the EPF wage ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month, effective from 17 September 2026.

The Central Government is reportedly considering increasing the EPF wage ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000.

If implemented, the employer's mandatory EPF contribution may increase from ₹1,800 to ₹3,000 per eligible employee every month, resulting in an additional ₹1,200 per employee per month.

For businesses with a large workforce, this could have a significant impact on:
