🚨 MAJOR AUSTRALIAN IMMIGRATION POLICY UPDATE (SEPTEMBER 2026) 🇦🇺✈️
The Australian Government has officially unveiled major changes to the migration system aimed at bringing net overseas migration down to 225,000.
Here is what you need to know if you are planning to study or live in Australia:
🚫 No More Family/Partner Visas for Most Students: New international students (undergraduate, vocational, and master's coursework) will NO LONGER be able to bring partners or dependants. (Exceptions apply to PhD candidates and select Pacific/ASEAN programs).
🔄 Strict Academic Progression: Students can no longer enroll in lower-level courses ("visa-hopping") just to extend their stay. You must progress upward academically!
🎟️ Working Holiday Ballots: 2nd and 3rd-year Working Holiday visa extensions will move to a random ballot system, with overall caps being reduced.
🛑 Visitor Visa Limits: New visitor visas will now automatically come with a "No Further Stay" condition to stop onshore bridging visa switching.
👷 Focus on Skilled Trades: Priority processing and extra points will be given to construction, healthcare, and education sectors to tackle local labor shortages.
⚠️ Note: These changes do NOT apply retroactively to students or families who already hold their visas and are currently onshore in Australia!
