Today, Venture Care completes 10 years.
Ten years is an interesting milestone.
It's long enough to realise that almost everything you believed on Day One changes.
When we started Venture Care in 2016, we thought our work was about helping businesses raise capital.
It wasn't.
Capital was only one part of the equation.
The real work was helping founders make better decisions.
When to raise.
When not to.
When to grow.
When to wait.
When to walk away from an attractive opportunity that wasn't right for the business.
Over the last decade, we've met founders with remarkable ideas that needed structure. We've met businesses with great products that needed clarity. We've met investors looking for opportunities and entrepreneurs looking for belief.
Every conversation taught us something.
Ideas matter.
Ex*****on matters more.
Capital matters.
Judgement matters even more.
One thing hasn't changed in ten years.
Businesses are built on trust.
Not the trust created by presentations or websites.
The trust that comes from showing up, telling clients what they need to hear rather than what they want to hear, and standing by them when decisions become difficult.
Today, as Venture Care completes ten years, we aren't looking back to celebrate what we've done.
We're looking ahead with a stronger belief in our purpose.
To help founders build businesses that deserve capital.
To help investors discover businesses that deserve conviction.
To keep earning the trust that so many entrepreneurs, investors and partners have placed in us over the last decade.
Ten years is a milestone.
The responsibility that comes with it is even bigger.
