📢 IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS
*Regarding Measures to Address Stray / Free-Roaming Dogs
Respected Residents of the Mahalunge Township,
It has been observed that, over the past few months, the number of stray / free-roaming dogs has increased significantly across various residential societies in the Mahalunge Township area. These dogs are frequently seen within society premises, parking areas, near children's play areas, and along common pathways used by residents.
This situation has created considerable concern regarding the safety of residents, particularly children, women, and senior citizens. There have also been instances in some locations where residents have reportedly been chased, attacked, or bitten by stray dogs.
In view of these concerns, it is important that the issue is addressed through legal, humane, and scientifically appropriate measures, in accordance with the applicable government regulations and relevant court directions.
Discussion with the Municipal Authorities
In this regard, representatives of the Mahalunge Township Residents' Association personally met with *Dr. Sarika Phunde-Bhosale, Chief Veterinary Officer, Pune Municipal Corporation* , and discussed in detail the issue of stray / free-roaming dogs in the Mahalunge Township area.
The Residents' Association requested the authorities to take the necessary legal and administrative measures to address the issue and ensure the safety of residents.
During the discussion, the concerned Municipal Corporation officials were instructed to take the following steps:
- Verify whether the stray / free-roaming dogs in the area have undergone sterilization / Animal Birth Control (ABC) procedures.
- Ensure that dogs which have not yet undergone sterilization / ABC are taken up for the required procedure at the earliest.
- Conduct regular counting and monitoring of the stray dog population, particularly over the next 1–2 months, to assess the situation.
- In case there is a sudden increase in the number of dogs, verify whether dogs are being brought from other areas and released in the township.
- Residents are requested to immediately report any incident involving a dog bite or attack to the concerned authorities, so that appropriate legal and administrative action can be initiated.
