The Indian law is a vast and complex system of laws, rules and regulations that govern the lives of citizens in India. It is a mixture of various legal systems including civil, criminal, commercial, environmental, and labor laws, among others. The Indian law has its roots in ancient Hindu law, British common law, and Islamic law, and has undergone numerous changes and reforms over the years.
Our legal system is divided into two main branches - civil and criminal law. Civil law deals with disputes between individuals or organisations, and criminal law deals with the prosecution of individuals who are accused of committing crimes. The Indian legal system also includes a variety of specialized courts, such as the High Courts and the Supreme Court, which deal with specific legal issues.
Despite its flaws, the Indian law remains a critical component of Indian society, providing a framework for the protection of rights and ensuring that justice is served. The Indian legal system is continuously evolving, with reforms and changes being made to keep up with the changing needs of the country and its citizens. And, despite its complexities, remains a cornerstone of Indian society and provides a framework for the protection of rights and the administration of justice.
However, the Indian law is very complex, has lengthy trials and inaccessible for the common people, making it difficult for citizens to understand and navigate the law.
Hence, the students of IIM Kozhikode initiated this forum to make the laws accessible and understandable for the general public.
