Jan Jagran Sansthan (JJS) conducted a community awareness programme on Female Gendercide in Paru Block of Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, with the objective of promoting the value of the girl child and preventing s*x-selective practices. The programme focused on sensitizing community members about the social, legal, and ethical consequences of female foeticide, gender discrimination, and declining child s*x ratios. JJS works extensively on gender equity, women's rights, and child protection issues across Bihar.
The awareness session brought together women, men, adolescents, and local community leaders to discuss the importance of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for girls. Participants were informed about the provisions of the PCPNDT Act, the importance of girls' education, and the need to challenge harmful social norms such as son preference and dowry.
