Fundamental Rights is a charter of rights contained in the Constitution of India. It guarantees civil liberties such that all Indians can lead their lives in peace and harmony as citizens of India. These include individual rights common to most liberal democracies, such as equality before law, freedom of speech and expression, freedom of association and peaceful assembly, freedom to practice religion, and the right to constitutional remedies for the protection of civil rights by means of writs such as habeas corpus. Violations of these rights result in punishments as prescribed in the Indian Penal Code, subject to discretion of the judiciary. The Fundamental Rights are defined as basic human freedoms which every Indian citizen has the right to enjoy for a proper and harmonious development of personality. These rights universally apply to all citizens, irrespective of race, place of birth, religion, caste, creed, color or Gender. They are enforceable by the courts, subject to certain restrictions. The Rights have their origins in many sources, including England’s Bill of Rights, the United States Bill of Rights and France’s Declaration of the Rights of Man.

submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.

Transparency in all the executive actions of any Govt. is an essential component of democracy. Transparency in executive or departmental actions makes it accountable to its citizens. Transparency often allows citizens of a democracy to control their government while reducing corruption and bribery in public life. Some commentators contend that an open, transparent government allows for the dissemination information, which in turn helps produce greater knowledge and societal progress.

Modern view of our open society demands implementation of norms of openness and transparency across the globe and it is believed that such standards are vital to the ongoing prosperity and development of democratic societies and transparency in all the actions of a Govt. can be helpful for the social and economic development of a nation.

It is being felt by the aware citizens of our country that citizen must have the right to know about all the decisions and executive actions and other projects of the Government that can be going to affect their life in any manner. Right to information act, 2007 is the result of such right and progressive thinking of citizens. In fact, an independent and inquiring press (be it printed or electronic) is often a stronger guarantor of transparency than legislative checks and balances.

Public and private sector platforms provide an avenue for citizens to engage while offering access to transparent information that citizens have come to expect. Numerous organizations have worked to consolidate resources for citizens to access government (local, state and federal) budget spending, stimulus spending, lobbyist spending, legislative tracking, and more.
