Gandhi's philosophy of nonviolent resistance was inspired by his experiences in South Africa, where he spent 21 years. He returned to India in 1915 and soon became the leader of the Indian National Congress, spearheading nationwide campaigns for easing poverty, expanding women's rights, and achieving self-rule.

As Prime Minister from 1964 to 1966, Shastri Ji promoted the White Revolution, a national campaign to increase milk production, and the Green Revolution, which boosted food grain production. His iconic slogan hashtag became a rallying cry during the Indo-Pak war of 1965.
