A simple iPhone upgrade taught me an unexpected lesson about digital clutter.

While preparing to switch to a new iPhone, I needed to back up my WhatsApp. To my surprise, the backup size was 12.3 GB, far exceeding my 5 GB iCloud storage.

I started by freeing up iCloud space, but the real breakthrough came when I reviewed my WhatsApp.

* Over 700 closed conversations that hadn’t been opened for more than a year.
* Numerous inactive group chats.
* My firm’s WhatsApp group alone was packed with old Word documents and PDFs that were no longer needed.

After a little digital housekeeping, my WhatsApp backup came down to just 2.5 GB.

It made me realise that we accumulate an incredible amount of digital clutter without even noticing. Just as we periodically organise our homes and offices, our digital spaces deserve the same attention.

Sometimes, decluttering isn’t just about creating storage—it’s about creating clarity.
