The Telangana High Court has made it clear, your vehicle cannot be seized just because the driver was drunk. In a strong ruling, the Court held that while drunk driving must be stopped immediately, police cannot automatically impound the vehicle. Instead, they must follow due process:
✔️ If a sober licensed person is present → vehicle should be released
✔️ If not → temporary custody only, with prompt release on valid documents
The Court reinforced that owners cannot be punished for something they didn’t do, and vehicles cannot be held “hostage” without legal backing.
