Winning a lottery, game show reward, or online gaming payout may feel like a windfall, but the tax implications don’t end with TDS.

In an article published in Moneycontrol, our Partner (Head – Taxation), SR Patnaik highlighted that lottery and prize winnings are subject to a flat 30% tax rate (plus applicable surcharge and cess) and must be reported in the Income Tax Return, even if tax has already been deducted at source.

We acted as the Indian legal counsel to BNP Paribas Securities India Private Limited and J.P. Morgan India Private Limited (the Placement Agents) with respect to the sale of equity shares of DOMS Industries Limited (the Company) by F.I.L.A. Fabbrica Italiana Lapis Ed Affini S.p.A. (the Seller) undertaken on the floor of the NSE and BSE.

The Seller has sold 4,248,184 (approx 7.00% of the share capital) equity shares of the Company for an aggregate consideration of INR 9,347.43 million on June 17, 2026.
