Justice Surya Kant has sworn in as the 53rd Chief Justice of India. Surya Kant (born 10 February 1962) is an Indian judge who is serving as the 53rd Chief Justice of India from 23 November 2025. Prior to his elevation as judge, Kant was a Senior Advocate and also served as the Advocate General for Haryana. He is also the visitor of National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi and also, he is the ex officio patron-in-chief of National Legal Services Authority.
