The 2021 Edition of the prestigious Intra-Departmental Moot, Department of Law, University of Calcutta commenced on the 18th of December with 16 teams. After an enthralling Preliminary Rounds, 4 contenders went on to qualify for the Semi-finals and following a grueling competition in the Semi-final rounds, two teams proceeded to qualify for the finals: TC_02 and TC_14.

The Grand Finale, with a Constitution bench comprising a stellar panel, namely (Founder at Chambers of Tanveer Ahmed Mir), (Vice President, Supreme Court Bar Association), (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court), (Senior Counsel, UOI & Govt. of U.P.) and (Partner at ASV Legal LLP), was the ultimate hurdle that stood between these two teams and the coveted prize of being crowned as Intra-Moot winners. Finally, the team to come out on top and be crowned the winners of this year's edition is TC_02 comprising Adwait Mitra, Aditya A***n, & Sneha Naskar. We also congratulate Satyaki Deb, Speaker of TC_14, for being adjudged as the Best Advocate.

This year's Intra-Departmental Moot was the first-ever virtual Moot we have conducted. Although the situation seemed dire at first, we finally pulled through owing to the unending perseverance & support of our members, our adjudicators, and our organizing committee. Special mention to members of the Moot Court Committee, Department of Law, University of Calcutta - Arunodoy Gupta (Joint-Secretary, ) Mayank Barman (Joint-Secretary), Arjaa Choudhury (Executive Member), Shubham Singh (Executive Member), Padmarag Banerjee (Executive Member), Jishnutosh Majumdar (Executive Member). We would like to thank and congratulate all the participants who displayed great resilience, indefatigability, and exemplary hard work during these trying times.

Greetings from the Moot Court Committee!

To spice up things during the pandemic season, we are conducting an Intra-Departmental Memorial Drafting Competition, 2021.

The competition would test your ability to draft a crisp yet well-researched moot court memorial, which is a MUST to succeed in any Moot Court Competition.

The Competition is open to all the students from the Department who are registered with the Committee, however, it is MANDATORY for the Freshers to participate, failing which they won’t be allowed to participate in upcoming State/National/International Moot Court and allied competitions until further notice.

Keeping in mind the challenges and non-availability of resources from the Departmental library, the moot proposition has been kept short and easy and the same revolves around “Family Laws.”

We are happy to announce that the team comprising of Arjaa Choudhury (Batch of 2023) and ADITI SINGH (Batch of 2023) were adjudged as Quarter-finalists in the 3rd RGNUL Sports and Entertainment Law Mediation Competition, 2021 among the Negotiating Teams. In addition to this, Mayank Barman (Batch of 2023) was adjudged as an Octa-Finalist among the Mediators in the said competition.

We are proud of their achievement and wish them the best of luck for future competitions!

The Moot Court Committee making the foundation base of the mooting strong among the new generations of lawyers by arranging a great engaging memorial drafting session this Sunday.

The Moot Court Committee is pleased to announce that appointment of the new office-bearers for the period 2021-22 has been done and the new members have taken their place in the committee.
