Think a ₹14 Lakh Income Means a Huge Tax Bill? Think Again.

Many people believe that earning ₹14 lakh a year automatically results in a high income tax liability. That is not always the case.

As shown in the illustration, a person with a total income of ₹14 lakh has a final tax liability of only ₹25,168 under the New Tax Regime (FY 2025–26)*. This is because tax is calculated after considering the applicable deductions, rebates, and the nature of different sources of income.

Before filing your Income Tax Return, it is important to understand:
* How your income is classified
* Which deductions and rebates are available
* How capital gains and rental income are taxed

A correct tax calculation can help you pay only what is legally due—no more and no less.
