On 11 July 2026, something happened that hadn't happened in 40 years โ an Indian Prime Minister landed in New Zealand.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to Auckland, and his meeting with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, closed a four-decade gap between the two nations โ and opened a new chapter. Together, they signed a Strategic Partnership Roadmap to 2030, covering trade, technology, education, tourism, and community ties.
For the thousands of Indian students already building their future in New Zealand โ and the thousands more dreaming of it โ this is a big deal. Stronger ties between two countries mean stronger ties between their institutions, their communities, and their shared future.
It's a good day to be part of the IndiaโNew Zealand story.
