๐ก๏ธ Empowering Children Through Legal Awareness | Speed Mentoring Program on POCSO Act, 2012
The Legal Aid Society, ICFAI Law School, IFHE, Hyderabad, organized a Speed Mentoring Program on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 on 22 September 2026 at SMP International School, Hyder Shakote Village, Gandipet Mandal, Ranga Reddy District.
The program focused on creating awareness among school students about personal safety, legal rights, child protection, prevention, communication, and the importance of speaking up against abuse.
The program featured several engaging and educational activities:
๐น Dr. Y. Gangi Reddy, Associate Professor, ICFAI Law School, delivered the welcome remarks and introduced students to ICFAI Law School, IFHE Society and the academic opportunities available at IFHE. He also emphasized mindfulness, prevention, communication and awareness in relation to child safety.
๐น Ms. Ayesha Sultana and Ms. Sahana presented a digital poster on โGood Touch and Bad Touchโ, covering POCSO, online safety, virtual touch, grooming, and the importance of reporting inappropriate behaviour. The students were also informed about Child Helpline 1098 and the POCSO e-Box facility of NCPCR.
๐น Professor Yuki Chaudhari addressed the students on the salient features of the POCSO Act, highlighting the importance of breaking the silence surrounding child abuse and encouraging children to seek help from trusted adults.
๐น A powerful mime performance was presented by Ms. Kundhana, Ms. Srividya, Ms. Esther Rani, Ms. Siri, Ms. Lalitha and Ms. Laxmi, conveying important messages about child safety, sexual abuse and the responsibility of adults to report such incidents.
๐น Ms. Pooja and Ms. Laakshanya conducted an interactive feedback session that encouraged students to actively participate and demonstrate their understanding of child safety measures and helpline numbers.
๐น Prof. Jayanthi Reddy, Assistant Professor, ICFAI Law School, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the school authorities, students, faculty members, volunteers and the organizing committee.
The program was sponsored by the IFHE Management as part of its efforts to promote legal awareness in Telangana and was organized by Dr. S. Kannan and the Legal Aid members of ICFAI Law School, IFHE, Hyderabad.
The initiative reflects the commitment of ICFAI Law School, IFHE, Hyderabad towards taking legal education beyond the classroom and empowering young minds with awareness of their rights, safety and legal protections.
