A Union Territory (UT) is a region in India that is directly governed by the Central Government (Union Government) instead of having full control like a state.

The name comes from the fact that:
👉 It is administered by the “Union” (Central Government of India)
👉 Unlike states, it has less autonomy and is controlled more directly from New Delhi
